Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Working out of the Jonah Sewap Memorial Nursing Station in Deschambault Lake, and reporting directly to the Health Director, the Maintenance Worker will work with other maintenance staff to ensure health services’ buildings, grounds and vehicles/equipment are properly serviced and maintained. This may include but not limited to:
- Assess facilities, suites, grounds, vehicles and equipment for servicing and maintenance requirements and/or replacement of furniture/equipment
- Complete work as required including basic servicing and maintenance requirements i.e., fix leaking taps, change smoke alarms, furnace filters etc.
- Keep accurate records of servicing/maintenance requirements and what and when those things have been completed, submit reports weekly
- Work with other maintenance staff for assigned jobs and to determine which tasks require a certified trades person
- Immediately report and/or correct any unsafe machines and equipment
- Other related duties as may be required
Qualifications
- Experience in performing basic facility and/or vehicle maintenance such as plumbing, electrical and other minor repairs is an asset;
- Safety tickets such as TDG, WHIMIS, Fall Protection etc. would be assets;
- Effectively communicate with other staff, contractors and community members;
- Work independently and as a team player;
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and remain in a standing position for a duration of time;
- Must be able to work safely from ladders and/or scaffolding;
- Must be knowledgeable in the use and operation of all hand power tools;
- Must be capable of working under minimum amount of supervision;
- Good organizational skills;
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license;
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines;
- Must be able to pass a security clearance check.
