Position Overview and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Holistic team Leader, the Holistic Health Developer is responsible for the assessment, intervention, counseling, aftercare and recovery plan development for the individuals, couples and family contacts within the community. They are also responsible for community development activities in the areas of prevention, awareness and education, support group development, networking and acting as an advocate for their client group.
Administration through maintenance of client files and completing required reports, Providing assessments, interventions and appropriate referrals in the areas of alcohol and other chemical misuse and abuse, suicidal thoughts/behaviors, family/relationship conflicts, the effects of someone else’s chemical abuse, gambling, family violence and other related emotional, psychological and/or social issues.
Assessing community needs in the areas of abuse issues, prevention education, treatment referral needs, aftercare support services and special issues. From this assessment, plan, implement and evaluate school and community workshops through the use of presentations, structured groups, discussion groups, resource speakers and compiling/educational materials.
Qualifications
- 2 years continuous sobriety / abstainer;
- Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Training and/or experience in a related area, an asset;
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
- Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivated and able to work independently;
- Current Satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance & Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Ability to speak Cree is an asset;
- Strong desire for continued growth and learning;
