JOB TITLE: Food Security Support Worker

Position Overview

To coordinate the ordering, delivery and/or distribution of good food boxes, coordinate and distribute food hampers for TB clients, facilitate workshops on budgeting, smart shopping and other life skills and initiate and implement other programs and services for improved food security within the community

Responsibilities:

• Promotion of, and activities for Improved Food Security;

• To liaise with Community Health Team to see who is eligible under this program;

• Facilitate workshops on healthy meal planning, budgeting and other life skills;

• To provide awareness within the community about food security;

• Work with Dietician to plan healthy food boxes and hampers;

• Arrange and facilitate shopping trips for identified clients;

• Budget, plan and shop/order bulk food supplies for distribution to clients;

• Pack and distribute good food boxes and food hampers;

• Maintain accurate records of good food boxes and hampers distributed, money taken in and sent to central office, collecting and submitting all receipts and providing month end reports;

• Support of the client with T.B. and family;

• Work with TB team to identify TB clients who would benefit from food hampers to improve food security.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED 12;

• Food Handlers Certification.

• Must have a valid Saskatchewan Driver’s License

• Excellent communication and public speaking skills;

• Must have an interest and ability to participate in activities related to the program;

• Computer skills;

• Must be able to maintain confidential information;

• Must live in the community served; • Fluent in Cree and English.

• Must provide a current Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check

Salary & Benefits Salary: As per Salary Grid (depending on Education & Experience)
